| NURSING SUPERVISOR – AMBULATORY CARE SERVICES |
To provide supervision in the management of Ambulatory Care Nursing Services for Outpatient department, university clinics, Ancillary Nursing Units (Day Care, ESWL, Dialysis, and Radiotherapy) and Medical Technicians (ECG/ECHO, EEG/EMG).
▪ To be a pro-active advocate on behalf of all patients, as appropriate.
▪ To support Head Nurses in the Ambulatory Care Services, in the implementation of
the highest standard of nursing care, whilst ensuring compliance with Employing Hospital's
policies and procedures.
▪ To supervise the performance / clinical practice of nursing staff and take all the necessary and appropriate action where performance does not meet the required standard.
▪ To provide leadership during crisis and emergency situations.
▪ To anticipate potential problem situations, and to intervene in order to offset any adverse impact.
▪ To act in liaison with Unit Managers / Head Nurses in relation to staff development plans.
▪ To improve and maintain good channels of communication, and professional relationships with medical staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Manages patient care services in the Ambulatory Care Units.
▪ Ensures all Nursing Staff of Ambulatory Care provide quality, accessible and patient-focused nursing services.
▪ Ensures Employing Hospital's policies, procedures and nursing standards are maintained throughout the hospital, and takes immediate and appropriate action when "non-compliance" is reported.
▪ Ensures compliance with Hospital's "Code of Ethics" for nursing staff.
▪ Ensures effective staff utilization to meet the needs of the service according to patient-acuity status, and in coordination with the Head Nurses or their designees.
▪ Builds rapport and establishes a close working relationship with fellow supervisors, unit managers and Head Nurses.
Manages the planning, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation/improvement of quality Ambulatory Nursing services that add value and are integrated with the nursing standards of practice.
▪ Participates as part of the Nursing Administration, in formulating, implementing and compliance of policies and guidelines for Ambulatory Care Services.
▪ Collaborates with physicians, nursing and other health care providers in establishing, implementing and maintaining patient care and quality service standards to meet staff and clients' expectations.
▪ Collaborates with Ambulatory Care Team in designing and evaluating processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
▪ Determines appropriate staff mix for the department, and develops processes to maintain the competency of all Ambulatory Care Nursing staff.
▪ Maintains communication with Head Nurses, Deputy Head Nurses, Clinic Team Leaders, and Senior Technicians to resolve patient care issues and/or unit-related problems.
▪ Reports any concerns/ relevant data / information to the Nursing Administration.
▪ Coordinates with the Day Shift Nursing Supervisor for all "code blue" situations in Ambulatory Care units, and during emergency "disaster" codes (i.e. red/orange/yellow/green/grey).
▪ Participates, when an investigation of pertinent incident reports in Ambulatory Care is required, as appropriate.
▪ Is knowledgeable with the computer program system in the hospital, offers guidance, advice and support as appropriate.
▪ Is involved in the completion of specific "projects" as directed by the Nursing Administration, ensuring that such work is completed within the given time-frame.
▪ Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained for the safety of all patients and nursing staff.
▪ Completes and submits Monthly Report to Nursing Administration.
▪ Liaises with Medical staff/ other health care professionals in promoting patient advocacy at every opportunity, as necessary.
▪ Ensures that nursing staff follow the chain of command as established in the Nursing Department's Organizational chart.
▪ Intervenes during crisis and emergency situations providing leadership for the staff.
▪ Coordinates with OPD Head Nurse for the Private Clinic duty on-calls for staff as required for transportation to and from hospital.
▪ Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
